According to data released by the International Aluminium Institute (IAI), global alumina production reached 12.513 million metric tons in June 2026, with an average daily output of approximately 417,100 metric tons.
This was slightly lower than the 12.610 million metric tons produced in May, indicating a modest month-on-month decline in global alumina output.
The IAI report also showed that China’s estimated alumina production reached 7.580 million metric tons in June 2026, compared with 7.630 million metric tons in May.
As China accounts for a significant share of global alumina production, the decline in Chinese output contributed to the overall decrease in global production during the month.
For buyers of alumina-based materials, including white fused alumina, brown fused alumina, and other aluminum oxide abrasives, changes in upstream alumina production remain an important indicator to watch, as they may influence raw material availability and future market pricing.
